Six musicians, artists and broadcasters from the eponymous cultural centre WORM in Rotterdam will sow entertaining chaos across the airwaves in a live series of group and individual performances. The public are invited to come and go during the show – at times you will be able to settle down in Kufa Kinosch for a submersive experience and at others you’ll be on the edge of your seats!

The DIY theatre group Handa Gote research & development extend the remix theme of Esch2022. They scour their sound design library and also reanimate outdated audio equipment that has been accumulating dust in their Prague storage room. Only the wax cylinders were spared.

Bruno Hiss is a sound artist, researcher and Aikido practitioner from São Paulo. This work is a primordial soup of radio art: breath and guttural sounds underscored by the pulsations of his heart, expressing the unspeakable directly from the body. Careful not to alarm your neighbours by playing loud at night through open windows!

Transdisciplinary artist, datscha doyenne and self-confessed fennophile Gabi Schaffner  trawled her hard drives in search of hitherto unheard recordings. The result is a mix of highly evocative watery landscapes with snatches of music and conversations, with poetry playing the part of drift-wood. Plus a cat.

Udo Noll is the custodian of the world's finest collection of field recordings made available online on his aporee maps. Over many years he has perfected the art of streaming live from self-developed mobile mics that can be placed anywhere. A handful of these boxes will be hidden in Esch-sur-Alzette and mixed live to air.

For more than two decades the improvising radio ensemble martiensgohome have kept the Brussels airwaves alien free. Faced with the challenge to emit 22 hours, they have chosen to organise their Radio Art Zone broadcast in 60 abstract audio segments of equal length which are framed with attempts to describe their sounds in words.

Mariola Brillowska is the Polish enfant terrible of the German Hörspiel scene and forms a Hamburg triumvirate in Radio Art Zone together with Kubin and Reznicek. Her contribution, the Polish Wedding Competition, is the starting point for a laugh-out-loud dystopian train journey of a travelling saleswoman. Sendung auf deutsch.
